Hi … My name is Judy, a proudly South African girl that was born in a small town called Rustenburg where everyone basically knew everyone but eventually i spread my wings and flew, well you know what i mean lol, i travelled the world working on a cruise ship which was an unforgettable experience from Mexico, Australia, Asia, USA, Australia, Carribean, French Polynesia islands to Alaska but to name a few. Currently i live in one of the most beautiful cities in South Africa, Cape Town aka “The Mother City”
Cape Town is buzzing with culture, beauty, art, fashion and a whole bunch of interesting people and lets not forget to mention Table Mountain.
I don’t have any fancy art degrees but i love, let me just say that again I love love art and being creative. I enjoy working with a variety of mediums which include paint, wood, metal and resin, it all depends on how i am feeling that day but most importantly how the Lord leads me.
Besides art i enjoy photography & travel, building unexpected memories with every photo i take.
I’m inspired by the beauty of Yahweh’s (God’s) creation and colour that is all around us, by the people in my life that encourage me to follow my dreams and to never give up. I am so greatful to be doing what i love.
Im blessed to share my life with my husband Chris, who is my rock, who stands behind me 100% and who always cheers on all my crazy, forever changing ideas no matter how “dilly” it might drive him sometimes.
Life is precious & amazing, love & beauty is everywhere, you just have to see it.
I am super blessed to share this platform with my amazing sister who is an incredible artist in her own right. She enjoys painting more detailed pieces where as i am more “ the messier and abstract” the better but that is the beauty of being an artist, there is no right or wrong.
As far as I can remember i have always loved to draw, paint and get creative. Throughout Primary and High School I was well known for the ability. Fortunately I moved to Cape Town when I was 16 years of age, the art capital of South Africa. I went on to study Graphics Design at Cape College finishing my N6 in 2001. I submitted my CV to various companies but the only job opportunity I received was in tourism and travel and have been in the industry for the past 12 years. I’ve learnt a great deal in the field and won’t say it has been a waste of time as Yahweh/God had a plan.
I hadn’t painted or picked up a pencil for 10 years whilst working in Tourism as if art had now dissolved in my life, but how could it have been so when I have been given this talent. I soon realized that I needed to rekindle the flames. I started to paint and draw again and completed my first acrylic painting in 2009.
I had never worked with oil paint before and because it was unknown to me, I almost feared the medium. So I prayed and met a friendly lady at the art store who gave me some great tips and ideas. So with a new boldness in my step I completed my first oil painting in 2014, “The Eagle Eye View”. Since then I have fallen in love with painting with oil and won’t ever look back. So what is my motto, don’t fear or you will never be able to paint with oil…hahaha.
Who is my favourite Artist you might ask? I will definitely say Yeshua/Jesus. I look at the work of His hands, His creation and I am completely blown away by His choice of colours, His composition is always perfect and His work is always gorgeous. How amazing His canvas moves, breathes and lives.
My first oil painting was the start of the flame being rekindled in me and with hope and prayer, I look forward to my future being covered in buckets of colour and lots of oil paint.
